Rehearsals
The orchestra rehearses on Saturday mornings, from 9:30 to 12 noon from early February to mid-December with a one-week break after each concert and on Easter Saturday.
Rehearsals area held at the Weston Community Hub Neighbourhood Hall, located at 6 Gritten Street, Weston. There is ample parking on site.
Rehearsal sessions include a friendly morning tea break that offers orchestra members a wonderful opportunity to socialise and get to know each other.
Concerts
The Orchestra aims to perform three concerts each year, generally in May, August and December. Concerts are usually held on a Sunday afternoon starting at 3.00 pm at in the Weston Community Hub.
Music
The Orchestra’s repertoire is selected to suit the varying levels of training and proficiency of current orchestra members. The music is mainly classical, but includes some lighter pieces selected from popular musicals.
Performance Dress Code
Performance day dress is black. Music stands and folders should also be black.
Membership Fees
Membership of U3A is a requirement for Orchestra members over 50 years of age. Orchestra membership fees for U3A members is $110 per year. Orchestra membership fees for non-U3A members is $150 per year.
